A View From the Bridge

Dress: Psychedelic Print Dress in Red by Gabby Skye (size 24) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Auditions, thrifted
Earring: etsy
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
Superb color combo on this dress...I especially liked the bits of purple-y mauve...of which I had a near exact nail polish match...those things always delight me. The print was a bit all over the place for me, but was fun for a wear. This dress was a tad big on top, but a great fit on the bottom...that happens a lot to me as I'm pear shaped...pretty, colorful fit & flare with pockets.
These vintage bakelite & lucite bracelets in all the colors are my new favorite if you hadn't noticed.
I wonder what this fantastic old building in Spring Green is?
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Pretty Violet & Lime Green, Misfit & Vinyl eyeshadow from Kat von D, Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Santa Sangre, & OPI nail polish.
I had a 20% off coupon for I had to get a few things. This amazing package of floral delights came in the mail a few weeks ago & I forgot to share the photo. I'm in love, as usual.
I wore this outfit to see a play at American Players Theatre with David...Arther Miller's A View From the Bridge...which was marvelous...but my favorite Miller play is still All My Sons...if you ever get the chance to see it...go.

Sunny Sunflower Sunday

Dress: Angelina Dress in Black Floral Stems by Cherry Velvet (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Born
Earring & Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, Jason, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I wanted to fall in love with this gorgeous dress & keep it forever...but sadly, the Angelina style just doesn't work with my body...I've also worn this dress in Scotty dog houndstooth...this style is much more fitted in the waist & runs a size smaller than most other Cherry Velvet dresses on me. Otherwise, it's perfect...a silky material rather than the typical cotton CV & just a lovely dress for any summer occasion...with the darker floral print, it would easily transition into the cooler months with a cardigan. I love the way the pretty flowers drop away leading up to the hem...a totally charming frock.
Sunny sunflower Sunday...I've wanted to check out Pope Farm Conservancy for several years now during their Sunflower Days (the one week peak of the blooms)...& we finally made it on the last day...I still think they look stunning. Over half a million sunflowers covering 9 acres...dazzling happy flowers.
We turn our backs to you.
I've got my arms around my friends...
Well, hello there...
Debuting my new floral necklace & earring from the talented Ms. Wendy...
My makeup with this outfit included...Esmerelda eyeliner by NYX, Kat von D eyeshadow in Fran & Legend, Cotton Candy & Totally Fetch eyeshadow from Too Faced, the darker green shadow from the Art Throb NYX palette, NYX blush in Summer, NYX lipliner in Fuchsia, Big Bang lipstick by Urban Decay, & OPI nail polish in You're A Pisa Work.
Indian buffet before flowers...David often ends up wearing my hat since it's always in the car...he looks fetching in it, doesn't he?
After flowers...I checked out the very first Makeshift Festival with Kate & her man...there was a lot of delicious sounding food...but I was still full from lunch. There were also drinks & art to savor. It's so wonderful having my girlie back.

The Crane Wives & Carrie Rodriguez

Dress: Brigitte Dress in Berry Macarons by Cherry Velvet (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee (use my link to get your first month free & help me earn GB credit)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Shoes: Converse, thrifted
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Photography: Super Boo, Kate, Angie, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I am not a big fan of pink & I hate macarons...but I love Cherry Velvet, so I had to try this dress. Adorable. I'm a pink convert...I have to admit it looks good on me & stop hating on the pink. This is not something that would have happened if not for Gwynnie Bee...GB opened me up to trying new things...styles & colors I never previously considered. And look at me...I even have pink accessories...the necklace is courtesy of the lovely Wendy Baker...& I thrifted the shoes knowing an outfit would eventually come along that they'd be perfect for.
I love the back on this style, which I've also worn in zebras & flags.  The fit on this is excellent...great flare & length.
I haven't worn Converse since the 80s, & now I own 3 pairs.
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX eyeliner in Gypsy Blue, Urban Decay eyeshadow in Junkshow & Dust, Quince lipstick by Bite Beauty, & I Sea You Wear OPI nail polish by OPI.
Olive at the private dog park...she LOVES playing in the pool...
O!M!G! My girlie returned while I was in Michigan...she didn't hike the whole 6 months, but she was ready to come home. She left again a few days ago to finish up the Appalachian Trail in Maine with a friend she met while she was out there...but she'll only be gone 2 weeks. I missed her SOOOOOOO much!
Kate day...lunch...& then later...Shitty Barn with Angie. I love that smiling is more fun & ridiculous with your bezzer.
We adored The Crane Wives last year & were thrilled to be able to see them again.

Swimming in Lake Superior

Dress: Oui Dress in Strawberry by Effie's Heart (size 4x) via Gwynnie Bee #borrownbuy
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Fly London
Earring: etXarte
Necklace: Wendy Baker
Bracelets: Vintage Bakelite
Photography: Super Boo, Brian, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I had to buy this subtle strawberry print dress even though I'm not crazy about the double neckline...because everything else about it is marvelous & Effie's Heart is my go-to casual wear. The heavy t-shirt cotton fabric with a bit of spandex is incredibly comfy & soft. I almost can't wait for my EH dresses to wear out so I can wear them to bed.
For fall, I'd like to wear this with a green cropped cardigan & three little vintage strawberry pins...I opted not to wear them this time around because I was worried about leaving holes in the dress, plus they'd look better on a solid colored sweater.
Have I mentioned how much I ADORE this NYX Oxblood eyeliner? It's my favorite new thing.
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX Faux Blacks eyeliner in Oxblood; Urban Decay eyeshadow in Alchemy, Bondage, Sonic, Last Sin, & Undone; Majella lipstick by Nars; & OPI nail polish in An Affair in Red Square.
Our first APT (American Players Theatre) play of the season...out of order since I wore this again while visiting Brian. David, Angie, & I saw A Midsummer Night's favorite Shakespeare play & our first play on the new stage. We left at intermission. Midsummer should be glittery & magical...& it was neither of those things. It was disappointing because they nearly always get it right.
In Munising with Brian & my beloved Lake Superior. I did not wear this dress on this day. Oh, the water was lovely at sunset & not nearly as cold as I expected. As a child I spent hours in the lake... every day...all summer. This is the place where I feel most at home & peaceful.
The next day we drove into Marquette again to have lunch at Elizabeth's Chop House...out on the patio overlooking the lake. The Lobster Bisque was delicious...& I just love their Art Deco back bar. Then on to Everyday Wines to pick up a wine carrying bag for Kate...she bought one the last time we were here...& then our dogs uncharacteristically chewed the handle off. So I got her a replacement & a bottle of sparkling Michigan wine. This was my last day in the U.P., I left the next morning. I immediately missed Brian & wish he'd move back to Madison...I like having all my friends in one place.

Brian! Keira! Marquette!

Dress: Puzzle Piece Printed Maxi Dress by City Chic (size XXL)
Teggings: Re/Dress
Sandals: Born
Earring: Kerala Rose
Necklace: Age Before Beauty
Bracelet: Vintage
Photography: Super Boo, Brian, & Me
Stats: 5'7" 55-50-64
I nearly didn't buy this dress...what a tragedy that would have been...I am in love. The unusual color combination & the fact that one of The Girls of GB calls this the Goth BeyoncĂ© dress finally reeled me in. It's a twirler & has such a nice flow when you walk. The shirred waistline ensures the dress fits just right & can be worn under the bust (as I prefer) or more at your natural is so long that either one works. The buttons can be undone & you could wear this dress as a duster in the fall over another dress. The only thing I would change about this is...wouldn't it be even more amazing with dramatic bell sleeves? I think so.
There is a front split in this dress that goes rather I wore teggings underneath so as not to flash anyone.
Dreamy...a boho fantasy.
I decided to wear this to a memorial in Marquette...& bought these shoes from an eBay seller in Madison just days before leaving...I've been wanting black floral sandals anyway.
I'm not sure what to call the purple/blue in this's not quite periwinkle. I'm rather proud of the eyeshadow I found to match it though...
My make-up with this outfit included...NYX Faux Blacks eyeliner in Oxblood; Urban Decay eyeshadow in Betrayal, Alchemy, Bondage, & Last Sin; MAC lipliner in Burgundy; Nars lipstick in Majella; & We the Female nail polish from OPI.
Driving to the U.P. I actually wore this dress to drive...but I didn't get any pics since I just threw it on without styling it. But first...a stop at Ulta to use my 20% off coupon. In Munising...Keira was there to greet me...but where is Brian? Look what a cutie pie she is! The traditional welcome dinner...pasties that Brian's mom made. Yum!
My high school boyfriend, David, died back in February from a heart attack. He & his wife lived in Austin, but she had a memorial for him in Marquette & scattered his ashes in Lake Superior. It was a weird feeling being there...seeing people I hadn't seen in 30 years. Dave was a special person in my first boyfriend & someone I spent countless hours on the phone with in high school, as well as in our 20s. I will never forget how I met him...he called me one night when I was 15 & don't know me, I just watch you. If that happened now, it would be creepy...but at 15...I was completely fascinated.
After the memorial...Brian & I were driving back to Munising when we passed this new wine bar...Brian told me he'd been wanting to check it we stopped. They had a pretty good sangria...& their outdoor patio was next to this happy umbrella installation.
 Just singing in the rain...
Later...dinner in Munising at Tracey's...a farm to table restaurant in the U.P.?! It was good, but we made the mistake of ordering too much bar snack least we had a spinach salad.
